We’ve studied Kanji 月  for 月げつよう日, and  日  for 日にちよう日. Let’s use them. 

 

1.1 〇月がつ🔲日にち

First, we will study how to say the month.  It’s not difficult. Just be careful with April and September.

Next, we will study how to say the day of the month.  From 1st to 10th days are special.  Also you have to be careful with 14th, 19th, 20th, 24th and 29th.

The way to say the day of the month is very difficult. So we recommend to use Kanji 月 and 日😄

Pay special attention to ４日＝よっか

» Before we start this section, let’s review how to say the date in Japanese.

 

In this section, we will study several ways to ask.

 

2. 【　】は　いつですか。

To ask about about schedule, you say

 

🚩Q：かいぎは　いつですか。📢  When will the meeting be held ?

A：６月15日です。📢　　　       Meeting will be held on June 15th.

 

You can also answer

ex.1) 来週の　水よう日です。📢

ex.2)  あしたです。📢

 

 

いつ is also used to ask the date and time.

Q：いつ　かいぎをしますか。📢

A：６月15日に　します。📢

 

In this case, you need に.

 

 

These 2 sentences have the same meaning.

かいぎは　いつですか。📢

いつ　かいぎをしますか。📢

 

 

Be careful that when you say きょう, あした, きのう. In such cases, you don’t say に😎

〇 ６月15日に　かいぎをします。

〇 来週の　水よう日に　かいぎをします。

 

✖ あしたに　かいぎをします。

〇 あした　かいぎをします。

 

 

3. 【　】は　どれですか。

どれ is used in case there are some choices.  If you are asked ～はどれですか, you choose and answer.

Let’s see this example.

In this case, there are some smartphones in front of you.

To ask to distinguish the Japanese product, you say

 

🚩Q：日本の　スマホは　どれですか。📢  Which smartphone is made in Japan ?

A：これです。📢  　　　　　　　　　　  　　　  This one is.

 

 

Let’s see another example. 

In case you ask about 1)～3)👇, you say

1) ア　2) あ　3) 阿

 

🚩Q：ひらがなは　どれですか。📢　Which is Hiragana ?

A：２）です。📢                             2) is.

 

 

🚩Please note the position of どれ.

〇 おのさんの　スマホは　どれですか。

✖ どれは　おのさんの　スマホですか。

 

 

4. 【これ/それ/あれ】は　何(なん)ですか。

何  is used to ask what you don’t know. You read なん for 何.

 

🚩Q：あれは　何 ですか。📢     What is that ?

A：私の　パソコンです。📢  That’s my PC.

 

In this case, the way to read 何 is なに.

 

 

You can also ask and answer below.

1) ア　2) あ　3) 阿

 

Q：1)は　何ですか。📢   What is 1) ?

A：カタカナです。📢      It’s Katakana.

 

 

🚩Do not mix up どれ  and 何😊

In case the responder chooses, you ask with どれ.

🚩In case you do not know about it, you ask with 何.

 

🚩Please note that in case you are asked with いつ, どれ and 何, do not say はい or いいえ to answer👍
