In lesson 3, we will study how to say day of week.

 

🚩今日は　水すいよう日びです。📢

 

It’s  Wednesday  today. 

 

 

 

あしたは　木もくよう日です。📢

 

It’s  Thursday  tomorrow.

 

 

～は…です  is also used in this sentence pattern😄

 

 

2.【　 】は〈今(こん)週(しゅう)/来(らい)週〉の　〇よう日びです。

In case you say about schedule, you can use this sentence pattern.  This sentence pattern is very useful.  Let’s see some examples.

 

 

You can explain the schedule above like this.

 

かいぎは　木もくよう日です。📢

 

Meeting will be held on Thursday.

 

 

日本語の　クラスは　月げつよう日です。📢

 

I have a Japanese class on Monday.

 

 

 

In case you mention this week/next week, you say this. 

 

 

 

🚩かいぎは　今週の　木よう日です。📢

 

Meeting will be held this  Thursday.

 

 

🚩アルバイトは　来週の　水(すい)よう日です。📢

 

 Next  Wednesday I have part time job to work.

 

 

To mention the schedule 👇, you say

 

🚩かいぎは　毎(まい)週　火かよう日です。📢

 

Every  Tuesday we have a meeting.

 

 

You need の  between 今週/来週  and day of week.

But be careful.  When you say 毎週, you don’t say の👍

 

In conversation, you say below.

ex.1) Q：日本語の　クラスは　木よう日ですか。📢

       A：はい、木よう日です。📢

 

ex.2) Q：日本語の　クラスは　木よう日ですか。📢

     A：いいえ、木よう日じゃありません。📢　　

 

 

You use 何(なん)よう日 like this.

 ex. 3 ) Q：かいぎは　何よう日ですか。📢　What day will the meeting be held ?

        A：水よう日です。📢　On Wednesday.

 

🚩Please make sure you don’t say はい/いいえ when you are asked with 何よう日.

 

 

» Fill in the blank and say about your schedule.  

 ex.)（ かいぎ ）は【 来週の 】《 水よう日 》です。

3. （　）と〈　〉

When you mention 2 or more things/people, etc.,  you use と．

 

🚩アルバイトは　火(か)よう日と　金きんよう日です。📢

 

         On Tuesday and Friday, I have my part time job.

 

 

 

We’ve studied おのさんは　日本人です。さとうさんも　日本人です in lesson 1.

Now you can say

 

おのさんと　さとうさんは　日本人です。📢

 

Mr. Ono and Ms. Sato are Japanese.

 

 

In case you use this と, subject(s) will be indicated with は.

 

 

To say about above 3 things/people, etc., you can also use と and は like this. 

 

Smithさんと　たなかさんと　Watさんは　かいしゃいんです。📢

 

 

» Let’s talk about your family and friends. 

1（　　）さんと（　　）さんは　かいしゃいんです。

2（　　）さんと　私は（　　）です。

 

 

4. （　）は　Aですか、Bですか。

In case you ask to choose between alternatives, you say below.

 

🚩かいぎは　月げつよう日ですか、火よう日ですか。📢

 

Do we have a meeting on Monday or Tuesday ?

 

Do not forget to say ですか twice😎

 

 

Answer will be

 

月よう日です。📢　　It’s on Monday.

 

🚩Be careful. In this case, you don’t say はい/いいえ to answer.
